Melinda Bargreen

 
Melinda Bargreen (b. 1947) has been the music critic of the The Seattle Times since 1977. Born in Everett, Washington, she received a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from the University of California at Irvine. She has contributed articles about music to Christian Science Monitor, Clavier, Opera News, Opera Canada, Musical America, American Record Guide, Washington (D.C.) Times' magazine, Horizon Air magazine, Symphony magazine, among others. She started piano studies at the age of four and composing at age five. She is married and the mother of two college students.
