Jeffery L. Ames

Jeffery L. Ames, a sought-after clinician, adjudicator, accompanist and composer, received his Ph.D. in Choral Conducting/Choral Music Education from Florida State University. He holds a Master of Choral Music Education degree from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree, with a double major in Vocal Performance and Piano Accompanying, from James Madison University. Dr. Ames is the first recipient of the National ACDA James Mulholland Choral Music Fellowship and has taught choral music at both the high school and university level. His choirs have performed at ACDA conventions and Carnegie Hall. Dr. Ames’ compositions have been premiered by the Florida ACDA, the Florida Music Educators Association, at the Southern Division ACDA and the National ACDA convention in Los Angeles in 2005. Internationally, he has been a featured clinician, guest conductor, and performer in Italy and Costa Rica. As an accompanist, he has performed with prestigious conductors such as André Thomas, Anton Armstrong, Allen Crowell, and Bradley Ellingboe. A distinguished musician, Dr. Ames currently is Assistant Professor of Music in the School of Music at Baylor University in Texas where he directs the Concert Choir and the Men’s Choir.
