- Ben Allaway (b. 1958) is currently Composer-in-Residence and choir
director at First Christian Church in Des Moines, Iowa. A native of California,
he studied at the University of Illinois, St. Olaf College, and Westminster
Choir College. Prior to his appointment at First Christian Church, Mr.
Allaway was the choirmasterat Des Moines'St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral.
His choirs at Waldorf College and St. Paul's performed at National and
State conventions of ACDA, and his music has been heard widely in this
country and abroad.
