Ein Bernelis Per Laukeli
- Kristina Vasiliauskaite - ed. Vance Wolverton
- This charming folksong setting tells the story of a carefree young
man who proffers a bouquet of sweet clover to a young woman who prefers
sweet words over flowers. The lilting melody in duple meter is accompanied
by consonant harmonies and the oft-repeated affirmative idiom "Oi
ja, oi ja."

Melodijas
- Peter Barisons ed. Vance Wolverton
- The low altos are prominently featured both melodically and harmonically
in this lush, a cappella setting that is strongly reminiscent of Brahms.
In the text by J. Sudrabkalns musical concepts become metaphors for the
complexities of life. Barisons's musical treatment enhances the meaning
of the text while simultaneously evoking rich, warm tone and expressive
delivery.

- MISSA BREVIS
- Kristina Vasiliauskaite, Lithuania
- Treble choirs will delight in this marvelous Missa Brevis by
Lithuanian composer Kristina Vasiliauskaite. Conservative ranges, melodic
choral writing, fresh, tasteful settings of the texts that only someone
as talented as this writer from the Baltic region could produce make this
Missa Brevis a treasure. Medium difficulty.

- Smieklis Man
- Aldonis Kalnins- ed. Vance Wolverton
- The lively music and amusing text of Smieklis Man will appeal
to children of all ages. As you might surmise from the title, the piece
is punctuated by outbursts of laughter, but it also contains a nasty little
secret about "Johnny's boots" that gives rise to various animal
sounds! File this little gem under "choral scherzo."

- Sulle Mulle
- Alo Ritsing- ed. Vance Wolverton
- The last thing I expected to find in Estonia was Barbershop-style singing,
but that is exactly what "Sulle Mulle" is. The infectious dotted
rhythm of the soprano melody is underlaid by an equally infectious rhythmic
ostinato in the alto parts. "Sulle Mulle" should be sung with
great gusto and highly exaggerated pronunciation for optimal effect. (Also
available for TTBB.)

The last thing I expected to find in Estonia was Barbershop-style singing, but that is exactly what "Sulle Mulle" is. The infectious dotted rhythm of the melody is underlaid by an equally infectious rhythmic ostinato in the lower parts. "Sulle Mulle" should be sung with great gusto and highly exaggerated pronunciation for optimal effect.

- Varpas
- Kristina Vasiliauskaite ed. Vance Wolverton
- The singer in "Varpas" is filled with sadness from an unspoken
cause. She believes that her depression will be dispelled if she can only
ring the bell in the tower. The composer has utilized an undulating melody
in common time supported by unexpectedly rich triadic progressions to portray
the tolling bell.
